This loop is an accessible walk, the entire walk is on road and paths, suitable for wheelchairs, toddlers and pushchairs. Notice the ancient oaks, the Viaduct Railway Bridge and the old stone walls that provide habitats for a variety of small creatures. It is very common to see many hedgerow birds and deer on this walk.
Walk is along the road at points, take care with traffic.

Start at the Winterbourne Duck Pond on Flaxpits Lane.
- With the Duck Pond on your right walk to the T junction and turn left onto Hicks Common Road. Cross over the road at a suitable point.
- Walk along Hicks Common Road past The Snug Hairdressers until you come to Cloisters Road. Turn right down Cloisters Road.
- When you pass the stables on the right you can notice the view of the railway line and Freezing Hill in the background.
- Continue walking down the hill and notice the line of old oak trees through the fields at the bottom on the hill on your right. There are often deer in this field, if you are lucky you might spot some!
- As the hill goes back up follow the road round to the left. Notice the horses to the left and diverse hedgerow to the right and beautiful flowers along the roadside to the left. There are often a variety of birds here along this hedgerow
- Notice the cows in the field and view of Frampton Cotterell in the fields front of you. At this point, Sunnyacres Farm turn left, following the road down the hill.
- Climb the hill and notice the wooden bird sculptures and the magnolia tree to your right.
- (optional non-accessible alternative) On the left by the Dog Waste Bin is a style that you can climb over and continue through the field back to the start of Cloisters Road.
- For the Accessible walk Continue along The Cloisters Road which becomes North Road, past The Mason’s Pub on the right, turning left on St Francis Drive.
- Continue walking to the end of St Francis Drive at the T-Junction turn right back on to Cloisters Road.
- Turn left back on to Hicks Common Road, cross over at safe place.
- Turn right on to Flaxpits Lane to return back to Winterbourne Duck Pond.
