Winterbourne and Frome Valley Environmental Group was set up in 2019 to address the Climate and Ecological Emergency. We are part of the Friends of the Earth network of Local Action groups, and we are well connected with other South Gloucestershire climate action groups such as Sustainable Thornbury (Climate Action Thornbury and Surrounding areas) and Climate Action Yate and Chipping Sodbury. The WEG Committee have been campaigning on road safety issues locally, to help make our streets safer to walk and cycle around. Local schools have also encouraged parents and nearby drivers to stop idling engines to reduce air pollution.

We have an active group of litter pickers making our local environment cleaner. Litter is a danger to animals and children, as well as being unsightly. Disposable plastic can take over 450 years to break down, and even then, microplastics are harmful to human health.
